FTTH (Fibre to the Home)

NBI (National Broadband Ireland) and Siro (Vodafone and ESB JV) 

In 2015, SIRO a joint venture between Vodafone Europe and ESB Ireland (Irish National Electrical Grid) embarked on a project to be one of the first providers of an FTTH service within Ireland. Also, Alltec Fibre working with TLI Group was selected as one of the small numbers of contractors to build the new Irish Government backed NBI Project (National Broadband Ireland).



Our tasks involve building, installing, terminating & testing fibre optic networks within the south-west and West of Ireland. Down country lanes on Pole Tops, Under Ground Cable Blowing through Ducts, Façade Fibre installation in housing estates and MDU Installation (Multi Dwelling Units) in apartment blocks in city areas.

We currently install approx. 100km of fibre each week, between overhead stringing crews and underground blowing crews.



 Our responsibilities are as follows

  • Installing distribution cable from the Fibre Hub to the distribution enclosures.
  • Terminating distribution enclosures & ODFs (Optical Distribution Frame) within Fibre Hubs.
  • Blowing fibre cable from the distribution enclosures to the Fibre Distribution Hubs via micro duct.
  • Stringing Fibre on Telecom Pole Tops.
  • Façade Fibre install on homes and MDU Buildings
  • Terminating the fibre bundle.
  • Testing all circuits from the POP to the Fibre Hub and on to the Optical Distribution Points
